Pat Smokes Up NYC

Join us in New York City on April 3 for SOUTHERN BARBECUE MEETS SOUTH ASIAN AMERICAN, a collaborative dinner benefiting the James Beard Foundation. Located in the brand-new Market 57 food hall, Platform by the James Beard Foundation, a state-of-the-art show kitchen and educational space for outstanding culinary arts programming that brings the Foundation’s Good Food for Good®  mission to life through chef-crafted food and beverage offerings.

“When our friends over at the Nashville Convention & Visitors Center told me they were bringing a group of local chefs to do some dinners together at the James Beard Foundation’s new Platform venue in New York City, I knew I wanted to team up with my buddy, Vivek Surti, who has an amazing South Asian American restaurant here in town called Tailor. Like me, Vivek’s food is inspired by his heritage and what he ate growing up around the family dinner table, so we’ve created a menu together of West Tennessee barbecue meets Gujarati home cooking (think Deviled Eggs with Onion Masala and Cilantro Chutney; Smoked Lamb Ribs with Yogurt, Cucumber, Chile, and Mint; and my mom’s Raspberry Fried Pie paired with Vivek’s dad’s Chai recipe for dessert). If you’re in NYC or need a reason to be, I hope y’all will come out for this once-in-a-lifetime meal. I’d love to hug your necks and see your faces.” - Pat Martin
